For those wishing to shoot some clays while attending the 2014 PGCA Annual Meeting at the NRA National Firearms Museum, (an event NOT to be missed) a quick web search revealed possibly the best shooting venue in the area. It is the state run public shooting grounds at Bull Run Public Shooting Center and they have trap, skeet, and sporting clays. Click on their website here http://www.nvrpa.org/park/bull_run_public_shooting_center and see what they're all about.

The hotel that the PGCA has blocked a group of rooms at is the Hilton Garden Inn in Fairfax, Virginia and Bull Run is a relatively easy drive from the hotel.

The Annual Meeting & Banquet will start at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, September 13th and there will be tours of the Firearms Museum conducted by Phil Schreier, head curator, during the day on Saturday. Those not wishing to take part in the guided tours may visit the museum at their convenience any time that the museum is open. So, Friday may be your best bet for any shooting you may wish to do.

Given the nature of this year's Annual Meeting at the NRA National Firearms Museum, the logistics involved in keeping to a rigid schedule and seeing that everything goes smoothly as planned, the PGCA will not have an official presence at any shooting venue, so those who wish to shoot should contact their friends who will be attending and squad up and have a great time bustin' clays!

There's still plenty of time to make arrangements.

Wish I could make it dean. But its a busy time of the year for me, and its hard to get out of Texas in the Fall. Plus, even if finances and time allowed, I don't need the depression that would set in after having to leave all those fine guns behind that ya'll will be displaying.

The theme for this year's People's Choice Award Display is Member's Highest Condition Parkers and guns entered don't need to be in 90+% condition.... just show us the best of your guns. They might be Trojans or a GH - it doesn't matter, just bring your highest condition gun.

The meeting is one evening, and the airport is almost across the street. You could catch a morning flight, catch a cab to the NRA Headquarters, tour the museum during the afternoon, attend the meeting, and catch a 10:00 PM flight home.

Thats true Mr. Murphy, but come that day in sept I will be up to my ears in pigs, steers, chickens, lambs, goats, turkeys, rabbits, and 4-Hers at our county fair. No one would look too kindly on a County Extension Agent running off to Fairfax, VA, when he has a county fair going on :)

What is the status of shooting at Bull Run? It opens at 12 p.m. on Friday. I thought there was another thread but could not locate it.

Jerry, If members wish to get together and shoot at Bull Run I would suggest posting a thread and maybe setting something up with fellow members. I have been told Bull Run is a great facility.

The "Other Thread" is a sticky at the top of the "General Parker Discussions" subforum.

Check with Bull Run. They may not let you shoot as they are preparing for the VA State Sporting Clays shoot the following weekend.

Call them and make sure all is well to shoot there the weekend of the Annual Meeting.

Thanks for that information John. We're glad someone is checking in on the shooting possibilities because, as previously stated, the PGCA won't have an official presence at Bull Run or any other shooting facility. Attendees are well advised to check on shooting possibilities themselves. We certainly hope they are accommodated somewhere near-by.

I saw the note about closing on Fridays before shoots and called last week. They advised they would be open at 12 p.m. From memory 50 birds on the sporting clays course were $21. But it would not hurt if someone called again.
