The dogs looked like they were having a good time. This may be a dumb question but I will ask it any way. Do the dogs suffer hearing loss over time from all the shooting.

a dog's hearing is selective, like a teenager's :whistle:

I would have thought so, and I think there must be some loss, I do not see how it wouldn't be.

But my dogs have heard and responded to voice commands and whistle until the end

the retriever I had sat there for three guys shooting over decoys and her hearing was ok, she passed at 13 years old

My dog loves the sound of a gun going off and probably would not want anything between him and it.

Wayne, yes they do. This is the second most important reason pointing dogs are trained to be steady to wing and shot.

Great video. Greater if the front loader had been used for the whole scenario. My shooting friend who had a near matched pair of front loading Westleys in mint condition, one a small bore, sold them off after a fire in his home made him a bit paranoid about fire, and didn't give me a chance at them.

I've always intended to do a little waterlfowling with a front loader. I've even got the gun, it just needs a little work to be put back into service. A W. Greener 10 gauge muzzle loader with 38 inch barrels and a straight stock. Fits me like a damn glove too. One of these days.....
