I received a Parker Brothers, Makers, Merdiden, Conn Vulcan Steel side by side 12 gauge double barrel shotgun as an inhertience. I am trying to get its worth so I can properly insure it. The serial number is 116110 with a "v" above it. It is in excellent condition.

you have a VH grade Parker that according to the serial number should be wearing 30 inch barrels. The V is a basic Parker, that is not a negative comment, just not as rare as the higher grades.

it looks to be in very good shape, the recoil pad is most likely an add on.

there should be a number on the barrel lug (under side of barrels, last protrusion to the rear) that would represent the frame size, that may have some affect on value.

Frame looks to have been blued on the gun which would severly effect it's retail value. But for insurance it is not of much concern.

Blue Book value for a 12g. VH in 50% condition is $3,000. Use that figure for insurance value since it can be backed up with the Blue Book. In reality, the retail value of the gun would only be about a third of that.

Thanks i will go with the 3000.00. It has never been blued to my knowledge. i just wanted a good estimate for insurance because my theory is that you can never have too many guns
