Looked at a Meriden sxs today.Part of the collection of guns a man has I spoke of earlier. He is taking his time revealing the guns to me.He brought out this Meriden 12ga,damascus barrels non ejectors.Good looking and feeling gun.I guess there were riding on the coattails of Parkers.made by or owned by Sears and made guns for about 15 years.
I have not seen many comparisons on the internet.Anyone have an idea what thier worth.

I don't think I would say they were riding Parker's coattails

there were a very many shotgun makers in the USA then, and Connecticut was a manufacturing center

they did make some very nice guns

I read somewhere that employees were going back and forth. Also Sears was advertising that you could get the same type grades,price,engraving,etc..Not nocking it its was the American way.Capitalism at its finest.Looks like a good gun but obviously not the same gun.Looks like very few have survived. But the ones that are still shooting are getting good things said, that I've found.

Meriden guns used first quality barrels but the manufactury was second tier in fit and finish. Higher grades were nice looking but still lacking in refinement. Prices depend on grade and features. Overall they are nice guns and a bargain in comparison to the first tier guns. They are always worth consideration.

Yours is the bottom grade Meriden.

Not mine yet, just looking.Having to jump through a few hoops before the gentelman lets me see all his guns he wants to sell.
He described another parker he has but was to vague to determine what grade.
But I did see one winchester he has that is like new(32wcf).Nice collection but its all over the place. No clear direction just accumulated guns for years.

Sounds like a man after my own heart. I have not found a gun I don't like yet.

I appreciate all guns and have a collection but I have gotten the double gun bug and its all I want to look at now.
At least they are older guns and not a collection of Bass Pro sale items. After todays inspections and conversation looks like they all have one or more stories. It was a good afternoon hearing stories of each one.

Nice barrels, probably made in Liege which was the source for most damascus barrels on US guns per testimony in Congress opposing a tariff on these.

I am probably going to end up with it.Have to make a package deal to get at the Parkers he has. Will know more this week, after the meeting the other day he is more comfortable and going to show all the guns to me.
