I was not aware that Parker ever made straight stocks? Can anyone verify if the stock of this VH is original?

straight hand stocks are not rare, the recoil pad looks like an addition.
as for the stock - if we had the serial number we might find it in the book, more experienced eyes than mine might be able to spot replacement vs a refinished wood

Although the butt treatment is not original to the gun, the stock looks quite original.

Yes, that stock is original. Like others have said, the pad and spacer are obvious additions. The stock has been cut short at one time and those look to have brought it out to where the LOP was.
All Parker straight grip stocks will also have a long tang trigger guard. If you ever see one with a short tang, it is not original. They just flattened out the pistol grip guard.
Straight stocks are far less commonly found on hammerless guns than full pistol grip stocks.

If this gun has an original long tang trigger guard, this isn't a bad buy if no other issues appear.

The best course for a person interested in Parkers is to get at least the Muderlak Parker Old Reliable book and study that as a starter, find a mentor who knows, have an idea what you want , then move quickly should the right gun surface. Be quiet about it, there are people who lurk here, the usual numbers are maybe 30 members and 120 non forum member lurkers/lookers, and some of those will buy a gun out from under a person who brings attention to it.

I am hoping that isn't what happened here. I'm a relatively young Parker enthusiast (23) and I would have loved to get my hands on this as I love a straight grip for wingshooting.

Correct straight grip V grades are few and far between, about 3-5% of V's made . There are lots of pistol grips remade, some well, but often poorly, into straight grip guns.
As the grades get higher, the percent of straight grip guns climb, until the small quantity A and B level where the percent approaches 40%. Straight grip guns were never widely favored by American sportsmen, and Parker numbers reflect that. So better move quickly if you find one you like , it is right and the price is right for you.

Just a tip... If you have a question about a gun that is for sale. Just post a photo of it. Do not mention where it is for sale, or any details that might direct others to it if you are seriously interested.
Besides, posting direct links to sale sites is kind of against the rules of the forum anyway.
Keep your eyes open and learn as much as you can, and you will find exactly what you want in time.
That gun could have already been sold and the seller just didn't update the listing right away. Who knows.

I have a very nice late 1-1/2-frame 26" VH12 with a blonde stock and a straight grip that is one of my very best shooters for me. My best duck gun is a 2-frame 30" VH12 also with a SG. I'll take a straight grip every time over a pistol.

The gun was brought to the attention to a group of people who would be the most interested in it. If you don't know much about Parkers you are wise to be cautious but on the other hand, he who hesitates.....There is a tuition cost in learning to collect Parker's, it comes in many forms, anyone who has been at it for awhile has a one that got away story. Bruce gave very sound advice.

Along those lines, how hard would it be to have the forum visible to only forum associates and PGCA members?

While I understand your reasons for suggesting this, we need to continue to make this website, in it's entirety (except the Members Only section, which is one of the benefits of PGCA Membership), available to everyone on this continent and, in fact, to the world. I believe we are the preeminent shotgun collectors organization and I dare say we have the very best shotgun collectors website, bar none. We need to keep it this way - not barring anyone - and just suffer the small pains that go along with being the "Biggest and the Best".
I believe that if we start barring certain groups of people, or become 'exclusive' it will spell the beginning of our downfall.

One should join the PGCA and use the members only Off Topic forum for a similar inquiry.

Yes, we need to be able to maintain "perks" to paid membership.
And we need to keep this board exactly what it is... A Great one. And not allow it to take any steps towards becoming what others have.

You can smell the alcohol over the waves from those other sites, particularly in the evenings. That's why the texting under the influence (TUI ) detection program that john Dunkle developed is so important.

One time this new girl got off the bus at high school - man, she was so good looking. As soon as her feet hit the ground I told all my friends, plus a few hundred other guys who I did not even know, to check her out. To this day I can't believe that they didn't seem to know she belonged to me. Within 6 months she was pregnant and had a stuffed alligator that said 'Guam' on the side. What's this world coming to???
