Wasn't a smoking deal but I have been looking for the English stock double triggers splinter with 28" barrels for several years. The case color appears to be about gone and lots of scratches. But when I take the gun bird hunting I won't be quite so stressed when I put a small scratch or ding in the wood.

Very nice...... and if those 410 barrels ever come out you got a dandy gun to put them on.

Mikey? is that you?

Hey, nice deal. Don't forget, CSM told me the 410 barrels are a one-time production run. Toss $500 at the deposit and forget about it until next yr. I did.

Thanks guys!

I am excited about the gun. Quail season runs to the end of the month and I hope to take some Bobs with it before season is over. Steve Barnett said he would ship it today so I should have it next week. I hope to post some pictures of the gun with some Bobs and my turdhounds on this thread in the next couple of weeks. Of course I am counting my chickens as I haven't laid hands on the gun yet.

I think the Reproductions have tremendous curb appeal and I get a real bang out of that factory leather case too.

Chuck I just haven't been bit by .410 bug yet but certainly enjoy your enthusiasm for the bore. I suppose it could happen before Galazan quits taking orders for them.

Thanks again,

Mike

Mike, one thing about those Repros with the straight grip... keep your face mashed tightly to the wood and swing at the hips.

Mike,
I agree, the Repro's have some nice looks. I really like the idea of having a few modern guns to shoot modern loads in., especially a sxs. My 28"/28g is in the mail and should arrive next week as well. I'm just throbbing to shoot it. Unfortunately, our wild bird season is closed and I'll have to settle for some hunt farm birds and clays.

Dean thanks for the tip. I guess the gun probably has about the same momentum as a soda straw.

The first NSTRA field trial in my region also starts the end of this month. I've noticed the dogs don't seem to mind they are farm birds.

Going to Gander Mountain and picking up a couple of boxes of shells when I run low is a luxury. Sometimes I find it hard to reload enough shells between hunts.

Thanks everybody.

My guns with the 28" barrels are choked about .014 and .033 imp mod and XX-full I have shot clays with ic/mod and the mod/full barrels sets and feel they are paterning good?, but this spring I will shoot them on Paper. I did a test by shooting each station with each set of barrels...my scores were only two birds shi with the 28" barrels compaired with the 26 inchers. If I would use the proper barrel set for the presintation at each station I bet my score would beet my 20-gauge averages. My overal scores were good....real close to my normal shooting with my 20ga. repro. I have several of the repro sets couse I can't afford or justify a nice original parker in 28 gauge. The repro's are a great value!!! wish I could find a 12ga steel shot spl or sporting clays gun with two triggers, pistal grip and beaver tail....)-: thanks all Kenny Graft SXS ohio ....(-:

Took it out after Bobs yesterday. I was able to knock some down and got a higher percentage than I thought I would. The gun fits me well and comes up nice and carries well.

Failed to take a single picture though. Carried my camera all day.

I really really like the gun.

Mike

Mike,
Great to hear. Everyone that I've known that's had one of these guns has loved them. After just looking them over closely, I can see why. Need some pix though.

I'm really looking forward to taking mine out in a few weeks after a mixed bag o' pharm phez/chukar, and maybe some quail.

I am going tomorrow by myself. All my girlyman friends are staying home cause it is Valentine's day. I actually think it is because it is supposed to be cold and rain a little bit. I promise if I have some success tomorrow I will take some pictures.

Mike

I just ordered a small batch of Win, Fiocci, and STS ammo for some pattern tests in my 28g repro. I'm interested in loads for quail, dove, chukar, and pheasant. The Win #5 and #6, 1 oz loads, as well as Fiocci 7/8 oz, #5 and #6 loads are on the way. Some AA and STS loads should take care of the small bird and target needs.

Mike ...please post any patern testing info you get....list barrel lenth and chokes...I plan to do testing after the weather warms to about 65 or better....that will be april or so...I have aquird a 4'X6'-1/4" steel plate for my patern testing....Use white paint between shots, beets all that paper I used in the past. I will also be working with my repro .410 I have. It realy impressed me at sporting clays last summer!!..never thought it would break that many birds!, I would have lost that bet>...thanks all Kenny Graft...SXS ohio...(-:

I heard you can use a white grease also with good results on the steel board

While living in England some 35 years ago I would shoot at the West London Shoting Grounds. The first time I shot with them they fitted me to a SXS and I would fire at a metal plate that had been whitewashed between adjustments. I have shot at metal plates with grease and did not like them as well as the whitewash.

I prefer paper to a grease plate.

Took this pair of Bobs yesterday with the Parker Repro. Is the "True Double" button available if I used a Parker Reproduction?

Sure, you can use a Repro or even a SBT (if you're really fast) to shoot your qualifying true double.

Congratulations!

Thanks Dean!

This is the last day of quail season. I am heading out with the reproduction after I write this.

I thought there was a stipulation for Texans that Greg Taggart had to witness it and record it while wearing a Fox Collectors hat?

Mike Shepherd

I give, who is Greg Taggart?

And as a special treat here is another picture from Friday's hunt. And that is me, not Tom Selleck. Also Molly, Red, and Dubya. Belle was sulking at the truck because I scolded her.

Took a friend to my birdlease today. We used his dogs which are excellent field trial dogs but had never hunted wild birds. They did well but it was interesting. In the NSTRA field trials one bird gets up when the handler kicks the bush. The dogs went it to a euphoric state when a whole bushel basket of birds busted out of the mesquite. The little 28 managed to bag a few more.

Today was the end of quail season but yesterday was the start of the Spring Field trial season. Sulky little Belle managed a fourth place finish. Field trials for me are the same as methodone to a heroin addict.

I really shot the 28 well (for me.) I was surprised I hit anything at all with 20 and 40 thousandths of choke at 15 yards. Delightful little gun and a pleasure to carry. Balances exactly in my right hand and carries for miles with no strain or fatigue. I really am delighted with the gun. My current favorite quail gun I think.

Mike
