Would appreciate some information on a older 12 hammer double I saw at a Mom and Pop antique shop the other day- Marked Prise or Pirice machine Gun on the right side lockplate- hammers, top lever, double bite under bolting- 30" Laminated steel barrels- bores like mirrors, no dents or dings or rust- pg stock and splinter forearm- 20 LPI checkering, no release on the forearm, so must be a "pull-off" design as on my Trojan Parker- good LOP and fairly straight stock dimensions- No other markings except English Laminated Steel on the barrel top rib near the breech- barrels ring well, and both hammers cock and release with good trigger pulls- Any ideas as to maker and aprox. date of mfg.?? Thanks!!

What might be a fair "ball park" price for this older hammer gun, after further inspection- $200???

i doubt anyone can tell you that without inspecting the gun
would you pay $200 for it just to hang it on the wall??
personally - mirror bores in any old gun- especially a lower grade one- makes me worry about honing. what is the minimum wall thickness?
i won't pull a trigger on an old gun without knowing that

Re-checked this gun today, and bought it- 30" uncut barrels- mirror bores, heavy a breech as miked- no dents or dings- no rust- and suspended them by lug with bungee cord and tapped each barrel from breech to muzzle and back with a 7/8" dia. wooden dowel- rang like bells- tight lock up at breech, snap caps with masking tape over dummy primers and dry test firing shows A-OK- original uncut butt-stock with intact 20 LPI checkering- ditto forearm, good straight dims w/o the usual 4" drop as sometimes seen on older guns $300 even money- will miked the chambers and start with some BP paper black powder loads- 2.5" 7/8 ounce no 7 shot and go from there-:bigbye:

Then I will get some detailed photos as you requested. How do I post them to this Forum site?? Also went to my 1954 edition of Stoeger's page 223 which details both Frenvch and Belgian proof marks-- Shows 18 and all thye provisional and final proofs- - no "perron" stamping, which means the lugs were forged with the barrel breeches E&L show leige proof House- inspector's marks, etc. also numbers on lower rib starting at about 6" forward of the hanger loop- which also has stampings on the flat or "face" area- Water table is also stamped, and the matching serial number from the barrels is the same- Pat'd dates are Mar ?? April 14 and June 26 1882--FYI--

-- Are you any distant relation to the late German painter and Museum curator (Tolde0 OH-- Edmund Osthaus. We have one of his paintings in our den- great detail, and a man who hunted and shot, and did it in style indeed. What is the model and style of the "plug-In" you mentioned, and can I get one at Radio Shack, so I can post the pictures here- Thanks!!

hmm- that is a software needed to play the video- but it dosn't give a link for which one
from the FAQ-
If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.
To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), (you can right click and go to properties and copy that - or in photobucket - copy the JPEG link on the right
and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing before the URL and after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) in this way too. (go to "all albums" at the top here- and then "add an album" - that will let you browse you computer and upload the image - once the album is saved - open the picture in the album and right click on the image - then left click on the save image location)
Old Hemlock Osthaus is one of my setters- he is the one on the left here, he is named after the artist, we have several prints and lithographs of his work on the walls

Do you have the painting or a print? once you figure out the posting - please show us
