I just purchased a Parker Repro 20 GA UNFIRED gun S/N 20-5615. The initial two digits indicate the bore, obviously. But can anybody tell me where in the production flow #5615 came? Does this mean this is the 5,615th 20 GA produced? Or is it the 5,615th Repro built? Any insight?

Any body have any stats on how many they made in various distinct categories? Like how many double triggers versus single, or how many pistol grips versus English, or how many beaver tail forends versus splinter? Or a breakdown of barrel lengths?

In case you're interested, you can see my new gun at

I should get it on Friday and I can't wait to shoot it!

Alex,
There was a thread in this sub forum a while back on your topic. A search may turn it up or another member with better memory than mine may recall.

Your gun is the 5615th 20-ga. built. I do not believe there is a breakdown available (at least I've never seen one) of PG vs. SG, ST vs. DT, BT vs. SPL, etc.

A compilation of production numbers by grade and gauge is available from our Home Page. Click on "Parker Grades" and then scroll down to "The Parker Reproduction by Winchester". I copied and pasted these figures from that chart to save you some time:

Production numbers:

DHE 28 Gauge 4,203
DHE 20 Gauge 5,800
DHE 12 Gauge 2,137
DHE 12 Gauge Steel Shot 350
DHE 12 Gauge Sporting Clays 125
DHE 410 Gauge 33
BHE 28 Gauge 7
BHE 20 Gauge 100
BHE 12 Gauge 100
BHE 410 Gauge 9
A-1 Factory Engraved, All Gauges 150
A-1 Custom Engraved, All Gauges 300
A-1 28/.410 Combo 16
Plus 500 16 Ga barrel sets that fit on the 0 frame 20ga DHE

Greg, do you know how many original DHE 28/.410 sets were made?

Good catch on those Dean. I do not, but Kenny has guesstimated 11-13 sets. Perhaps Robin can add them to the production chart.

Rarity of various features gets harder to estimate as years go by. Double triggers may be forty percent of the production, but double trigger guns for sale seem to be about two percent. Twenty eight inch barrel single guns, not two barrel sets, may have been forty percent of total production. However, twenty eight inch single barrel set guns are all but nonexistent on the resale market. You see the problem. Only guys who have watched the market frome the beginning can even guess at the percentage of production of various options like single triggers, beavertail forends, straight grips. The thing to remember is that the most wanted options are in collections and only seldom come out for sale. When the market was hot, the 28 gauge two barrel set with double triggers, straight grip, and beavertail sold for up to ten grand a Julia's auction. Now such a gun is about seven or eight thousand, but only if you can find one. Soon, all of this configuration will be in collections. Was it rare when they were in production? Who knows. Who would have thought that the 28" barrel length selection would have made or broken a collector's decision to buy or not. Today, all of the popular options like double triggers, straight grip, and beavertail can be present on a 20 or 28 gauge gun, but, if it has 26" barrels, it will sit on the market until a shooter or hunter comes along. A collector is just not interested. In a few years, things will change.

This twenty-six inch 28 gauge ain't going anywhere for a long tome...

I didn't say I didn't like them. I've only owned one Repro in my life and have never fired the 28" barrels. The 26s are the only ones that get used. There are some fantatic buys out there on single trigger 26" guns. Original retail was $3370. Today, you can buy one for almost that price. After all these years, I may get hooked again.

Just picked mine up. Straight grip, double trigger, beavertail, 26". I paid $4K. Lovely little gun and it's found a permanent home with me. It's not a collector's item to me, it's a bird gun and I intend to shoot it regularly.

Now where'd I put that ad for a two barrel set?

:)

There are a few still out there on internet sites that will not be easy find again if you miss them. I would buy them if I didn't have the Repro I want. I looked today, found great guns, but only a very few. I even found a one barrel 28" gun that I would buy, but it will be gone very soon.

Bill,

Do you know if the 28" was listed by William Larkin? If so, it is gone. I called on it today. If that's not the same one, would you mind directing me accordingly?

Thank you

That is the one, but not the only interesting Repro on his site. Did I say "Gone very soon."?

No kidding. I procrastinated one day too long apparently. Thanks. Will not happen a second time.

Can any one tell me what a 20 ga B grade 2 barrel set goes for? We were having a discussion in my office and we were far apart on what we thought it was worth.
