I went out this morning and shot my old beater VH 12. It shoots great only complaint is that it is not to comfortable without a buttplate. I will have to get a reproduction and put it on there. I took two Dr. Pepper cans out to 70 paces and the left barrel put 8 wholes in the can the right 2. Both barrels are full choked. Shot 1 1/8 oz of #8 shot. I might take a shell apart and count the number of pellets.

I would be willing to stand in front of your gun at stated yardage, stated load, if I were allowed to wear a T-shirt. Eights at seventy paces tickle me.

Charlie I should admit that it took me a couple of shots to figure out where to shoot. First shot I held to high and it went right over the second I compensated to much and went right under. I know I did not hit it either time as the cans were full and when I did hit it it was spitting Dr. Pepper. I have had shot rain on me a few times but you could not get me to stand in front of a shotgun. I also got to check the safety. When I got the gun the safety mechanism was frozen and the triggers would not work. I did everything I could to get that gun to go off with the safety on but it held solid. You just cant beat this old craftsmanship 110 years and still going. If my 870 lasts another 10 I will be surprised.
