Looking for a price check for the following gun:

28 ga Repro
2-barrel set (26"-Q1/Q2 & 28"-Mod/Full)
Double triggers
English Stock
BTFE
Very high condition
original case/dust cover/snap caps

Thank you.

WOW, nice gun!

I would say somewhere around $5.5 - $6K if it has remarkable wood... and presuming, of course, that it is a DHE.

That's a great and hard to find configuration. I think Dean's estimate is reasonable, but I wouldn't be afraid to spend a little more. Look up Kenny Graft, he'll tell you what they're selling for.

Those that have read Ed Muderlak's "Old Reliable" book learned to be very keen when reading gun descriptions.

The case/dust cover/snap caps are described as "original". The gun is not described as original, but rather as being in "Very high condition". Does the "Very high condition" mean "100% all original very high condition" or does it mean "refinished and/or altered in any way to a very high condition"?

There is a difference. What would you rather pay good money for? An original in very high condition or a refinished/altered gun in very high condition.

I don't see any intent on Jay's part to be misleading on this hypothetical gun.

Just my two cents ,I agree with you Dean ,but I don't think Greg meant Jay was being misleading but possibly the seller ,if Jay was thinking of purchasing this firearm !What Greg says is correct ,be careful ,I drove nearly 6 Hours across our state this past spring to look at a repro. described exactly as this one and when I got there the Mod and Full barrels were added to the gun and also the two barrel case ! I was so dissapointed and aggravated by this that I passed on the gun which was at a much lower price than suggested here ,a decision I regret ,but very soon after the gun sold ! I don't recall the buyer ,but it was posted here so at least one of our members got it ! Again ,just my two cents ! Best ; Russ

Good points Greg and Russ. I guess I wasn't considering a gun that is relatively new (thirty years or so) might have been cobbled together considering there are so many NIB Repros out there that we see all the time.

I have the same configured gun in 28ga except mine has a splinter FE and it had no canvas cover(I got one eventually), and it lost a little case coloring due to the receiver section not being wrapped properly, not wrapped at all actually, in the case for shipping - that wool felt is abrasive. I paid in the high $5K range. Mine is serial #1 and one of the NSFL series. Condition was essentially new but it had been fired.... I know that because the barrels had not been cleaned after firing and the dealer didn't even look down them to see. When I told them about that over the phone the reply was "we get a lot of guns and can't look at them all"...??.... Really???

I did just buy the exact gun SG-DT-BTF, great wood, case and cover. All very nice and correct, gun was fired 50 times with Q1/Q2 barrels only. Gun looks new! The seller would not move on his price of 6800.00 I dragged my feet working on this deal for 2 weeks, seller was firm!!! but I decided that this was a very scarce set and paid the price! I did get the seller to ship it at no extra cost. That's the thing about these guns, I was not the first person to find it, if it was a better price it would have been sold and I would not ever of know it existed....I have paid all the money for most of my special repro's...but I have them! I think this one was about 800.00 over my perceived price it should be....but were you gunna get one?, and be the lucky buyer to get it. Just remember what a deal the repro's are at this price! Its a brand new Parker made in Japan. No other American shotgun brand maker can come close to theme. I look for them to continue going up...in a couple years todays paid price will not matter! Before the crash, Julia's sold one of that configuration for ten grand. It is the scarcest configuration of 28 gauge DHE. I would be paying what I had to pay if I needed one.

Bill, I have never seen a configuration break down for repro's. I don't even think I know all the options: gauge, grip, trigger, forend and barrel length (maybe choke)? I understand the scarcity by gauge (410) and grade (Duck Stamp Special) but I have no appreciation of the DHE configuration break down.

Can you enlighten me on what is the scarcest DHE to the most common?

The Parker reproductions are the best value in the American designed SXS shotgun. Hi quality materials and top shelf workmanship at a great price. They were only made from 1984 till dec-1988 and only about 12000 guns had been made. Several configurations are very scarce and requires much study to get a feel for the numbers of this or that. All hard records are said to be lost so we will never really know the true numbers. Like other rarities its how often they are seen for sale that is a good gauge of the availability. I have been searching the net for years collecting repro;s and have a good idea of whats out there and what they sell for normally. And there always good buys but you must be lucky to get a sweet deal or know the seller personally before they hit the main sales events. Many repro's are very scarce indeed! I have been collecting for a good 10 years now, at first I bought my hunting guns 20ga then 28ga. then 16ga. then 12ga. and now even 410 /28 sets all double triggers guns with stocks that have the same dimensions or very close. All my repro's are DHE grade guns. I have been looking for a BHE for years now that has double triggers with no luck at all...have never seen one for sale at any price....)-: I have been told about ones I missed...bummer. Repro's can be very hard to find if your looking for a model that few were made and you will pay all the money to get it! The DT-BTF 28ga guns are scarce...be ready to pay the going price with cash in hand. I do think they are a great value...what would CSM ask for one if they made it? maybe 25-40K in DHE grade. Speaking of common or uncommon configurations, how often do SK1 and SK2 barrels come up in the 28 ga repro sets? My NSFL set has 28 M & F and the 26" are the skeet chokes.
thanks

I believe some of the early guns were marked that way SK1/SK2 then replaced be Q1/Q2 by name only...barrels cut to same choke. Scarce...I have not seen many if any marked SK1/SK2 It may be noted in The Parker Story about this or in the factory broshures?? SXS ohio
