Just had a telephone report from my farmer friend and it was a good one.
Season officially opens Sunday morning in Southern Illinois with a barn pigeon shoot around the grain bids followed by breakfast, naps, then an afternoon dove shoot.
He said he wasn't holding as many doves as he'd like but still enough out there to make it interesting.
He's got the pigeon decoys ready and says I should bring plenty of shells for those fellas as they're thick. They're flying early so we'll have to have the rig out by daylight.
I've got an unbroken case of Winchester AA Super Pigeons in 7 1/2 copper. I'd been saving them for box bird shooting in PA but I might have to take a couple boxes along for the barn birds.
