24 days until it is time for the Fall Southern Side by Side event at Backwoods quail club near Georgetown, SC.
This has always been a great event for shooters and continues to grow and get better each year.
Hope everyone who wants to come can make it.
Safe travels.

It's only 11 days to the opening of dove season in Southern Illinois, I'm a little more excited about that. Hah!

I am glad you boys have plans. I hope yall get into them and have a great time.
The intentions of my post is to bring attention to this event. I want to do something to help support Rick Hemingway. I feel a post in support is a good start.

This will be the sixth year of this great event. The shoot is in Georgetown, SC at Backwoods Quail Club, which is owned and run by Rick Hemingway.
Rick is a very strong supporter of the PGCA and he and his staff go out of their way to accomodate us and make sure the event is top notch and very well run. Each year this shoot gets better and better.
go to www.backwoodsquailclub.com and look under the upcoming events section for shoot info.
The registration form can be found at the following:

We are already registered. Looking forward to the festivities. If you have not been before, it is a great event. Check the schedule, but all you need to have fun is to show up. Great shooting, lots of vendors and great fellowship.

I'm booked and looking forward to it. Dove season opens here on the 2nd. I guess I'll use that as a warmup for the great courses that I'm sure Rick has laid out for us. :) I attended last year and had a great time. I can't wait to see all the changes/upgrades he made for the National Championship earlier this year.

Rich, I think Hemmingway searched long and hard to find a date that did not conflict with another shoot or most hunting seasons . I know one of the dates he considered conflicted with your "fly swatting season" so he chose another.
I guess you can not please all the people all the time and being you are one of those hard to please guys....:bigbye:

Really looking forward to seeing all the changes Rick made for the US Open. His venue was already my favorite, and I understand it's even better now! Gonna be a great time! Lizard and I will be glad to see all that can make it.
Hope Team Parker has a good turn-out, as I know of at least one rental house on Pawleys Island that will be harboring 16 Elsie enthusiasts. Hate for Team Parker to be out-gunned again!

I heard a "rummer" that a certain beautiful, straight shooting ,young lady will be shooting for Parker? It is not quantity but quality that counts ! Bring em on!!!

I am fortunate enough to live 20 min. from Backwoods. I saw Rick on Mon and he is opening the event on noon on Thursday but will have stations open to shoot all week. I thing the "California Crowd" will be here Wed. evening. I will join them and Dan on Thursday morning. John, since your daughter is now part of the Parker group you are invited to the Friday "Parker Celebration" at Backwoods. I will guarantee a good time:good food, beverages, a great Bluegrass band and most importantly, good company.

I'd forgotten that you were that close to Backwoods! Must be nice!
Thanks for the invite to the gathering, and we're looking forward to attending. I'll cover my license plate!

It does sound like a great time just as the Southern and Hausmanns are but you just can't do them all. Seeing as I'm still chained (for another year) to a job even though its flexible PGCA member Jack Cronkite is coming from Saskatchewan to the U.P. to hunt Grouse I can't be gone that long. In addition this shoot would entail a two day drive:cuss:
You boys break those clay birds and Jack and I will down some Grouse:rotf:

Grouse opened up here Aug 10 but I generally don't hunt them before Sept 1; just seems too early and they're still too dumb. We kicked some up along a river last weekend and they just flew up into small trees like spruce grouse and sat there looking down at the dog and us. It's snowing in Barrow, there's frost warnings around Fairbanks today and tire chains were recommended for a pass on a road north of town two days ago. Summer is closing down fast. It's 41 deg here right now....

Richard,
When it hits 41 degrees here we consider Summer long gone!

By then Interrior Alaska is well into the grips of winter as their daylight grows dimmer and dimmer.
Makes me shudder and shiver just to think about it. *teeth chattering*

18 Days and counting!!!! I saw Rick Hemmingway yesterday and he told me he was going to provide PGCA with our own tent, just like last year. I believe last year we had six tables, two for PGCA and the rest for members. If you want a table please let me know-first come....:) There is no charge for a table as Rick is providing it free, The same for Friday evenings "Parker Celebration"
food, drink , music, free. The event opens for shooting noon on Thursday.
It has cooled down a bit here-mid 80's so if no storm this year it will be fantastic.
David
C O B-we will miss you!

It's nice to be missed. Maybe some day but not if it interfers with the opener of Grouse season which is Sept 15. It will be warm and the cover thick to be sure but it is the opener and it comes only once a year:)

Rich, The Suponski boys and I drove two solid days to get there last year, only to beat it back to CT on Saturday, to beat the hurricane. I will agree, Backwoods is a first class course and we had a great time shooting, and socializing at the PGCA Annual Meeting/Dinner. It was kind of novel seeing my daughter doing the weather from the beach in Myrtle Beach.

Mills, I wish we were heading down this year. The Vintagers and PGCA Annual Meeting is 2 weeks after the Southern, and only an hour and a half from me. If there are any folk up this way heading down, I haven't heard such as yet.

So, what's the final verdict? Who's headed down to Georgetown tomorrow afternoon? I've got enough guns and ammo loaded in the truck to start a small army! Who want's to hit the course with me?
