I had a customer brought in a Parker Bro's SxS wanting to know what he had. He bought it from and estate because he liked the gun. What we know about the gun is:
S# A3279 (Mfg'd in 1874?)
On the barrel lug there is a "S"
No grading - is this before they put the grade on it?
Where the barrel weight is to be stamped is a "cursive r, dot. L"
The barrel has extractors.
The barrels are Damascus Steel.
It has a vent rib.

As far as value, if the gun is pre grading how do you determine value? Everything I have is based in the grading...
He took it to Cabala’s and they didn't know either.

It would help if you could post pictures

Does it say "Parker". Or Parker brothers?

I have never seen a "vent rib" on a hammer gun.

I would love to see a hammer gun with a vent rib. Show us more.

So it doesn't have a vent rib? Cabala's called it one...

It's a vent rib now because someone cut the bbls and it is ventilated between the top and bottom rib? is that how make Cabelas sense
