Husquvarna hammer 16

I'm going to look at a Husquvqrna hammer 16 with fluid steel barrels. It is supposed to be an extremely nice gun, light and has a straight grip with 29 1/2' barrels(metric). The owner didnt have a 16 ga choke tool so I will take ny little drop in choke guage. Anybody know anything about these guns?

Harold, I had one but my good friend fell in love with it and whisked it away.

Anyway, mine was 65mm 16 gauge. This is the best site to look at that I have found for data on these.

I visited Stockholm (for work) quite a few times in that last two years and saw quite a few of these in different variations in some of the local shops. Those that I have handles are of good quality and I hear some had Sauer receiver components.

Harold If you happen to buy the gun could you post pics. I am particullary interested in seeing what the part that pushes the extractor forward looks like. I have an 8ga that is missing this part.

I forgot to mention that they are well made firearms, but they don't fetch much money. 350.00 to 400.00 on the very high side. An average one is around 200.00 to 250.00. These guns are highly under rated.

A good friend has one which he really likes. I've shot it and I agree with Wayne, they are underpriced and well made. You get a lot of bang for the buck.

In one sense, Husquvarna was a lot like Parker Bros., they were a very diversified manufacturing company that had a small division that made guns. They got out of the gun business 20 or 30 years ago. They made very high quality rifles and shotguns. The rifles were primarily built on Mauser actions, and as said about the shotguns, do not bring much money. Currently Husky manufactures extremely high quality chain saws (commercial logger quality) and lawn care equipment.

Harold, the model number and grade (if any) should be stamped on the water table and barrel flats. If the chokes have not been worked on they are usually tight or tighter. Please post some photos if you can.

Wayne, is your 8 ga a Husky?

I am not sure who built mine I believe it is marked W Moore & Company. It is belguim proofed and built off the Lafaux ( excuse my spelling) Patiend. Looks just like a Dubbelbossa modell 15. Thats a double barrel model 15 in english.

Mike If you can get a good clear pic of the part (that is in the frame itself) that activates the extractor I would appreciate it. Here is a pic of mine. Its hard to appreciat the size of this gun from the pics. The gun weights 15 lbs and has 36" barrels. It dwarfs my largest 10ga parker at 10.2". You wouldnt want to pack it very far.

Wayne, you are speaking of the part in the foreend iron that hits the extractor tip when the gun is opened, correct?

Yes that is the part that is missing in my gun.

Thanks but yours is not the lafaux pattend. Mine has a metal forearm and a foreward faceing underliever. You have to look at my photos closely.

Havnt pulled the trigger(s) on the Husky 16 yet. It is a model 20, crca 1926,
ser 1353xx, st. grip, 29 1/2 barrells choked EXTREMELY full, under lever gun. Probably should just save my money for a Parker hammer gun. Price is more than what others have indicated for these guns.

Harold, I've never owned an under lever gun. All of mine are top levers so can't speak as to quality of the model 20...but....if me I'd hold out for a top lever gun.

Husky made the gun in several configurations. top break, foward underleaver (like mine) and jones underleaver. Nothing wrong with any of them. The jones underleaver is a very classey gun.

I am on my second 310AN hammerless, straight grip, nicely engraved, solid gun that handles well. Very under rated IMO.

Finally some pictures. Would this be called a n underlever or a sidelever?

This is the foward under lever like mine. the pic of the frame is exactly what i was looking fore. Can you tell if that little piece is held in the frame by the hinge pin. Or is their some kind of set screw that holds it in place.

Its based on the Lefaucheux pattern underlever (from Belgium I think ,but not sure) I have one in 16 bore and it's a nice light little gun but a little bit awkward getting used to the feel of the forend arrangement,but a nice gun all the same...I don't think Husky ever put out any garbage,the designs are a little off for some of our tastes but the guns always seem well made and finished, in my opinion.
