picked up another jewel. PHE 20 gauge with 30" Parker Steel Barrels choked M/M with 2 3/4" chambers. pistol grip that appears original to a peaked butt plate, beavertail that is definitely not original but looks very good. just a slight wiggle at hinge pin with forend off. # 185302 # 1 frame weighing 7 lb 3 oz...not in the book & nothing in database. made in 1919
TPS says first PH with Parker Steel barrels was 192515...12 ga. made 1920?

no digging for this one Chuck.....

Do you think the barrels are original or do you think new barrels were put on at the factory?

comparing flats markings & general wear with other close aged guns , i think they are original. but ...i am by NO means an expert. who knows ?

Dwight,

The steel barrels may very well be original to your gun. I have an older 20 ga. PHE with 28 in. Parker Steel barrels that my PGCA Research Letter states is the original configuration. Its Serial No. is 177508 and was shipped from PB in August 1917.

Thanks Bill, looks like we have a couple of PH guns with Parker steel barrels before the one in TPS they thought was the first & yours is evidently in the record books. i beleive i read somewhere that Parker Steel first came out on PH guns in 1917.

I would agree that the BT fore end looks very good on that gun. Nice find!
