Guess I'm out of the bird hunting business now. Can't follow the dogs any more. And,I have my parker 16 double with no one who would ever appreciate it to leave it to. Would never consider selling till now, but don't know where to go to get its value. Any recommendations?

Hang in there and someone will ansewer directly. Its the wrong time of the day. You will probable will have to tell them where your are at. Then maby they can recomend someone near you. If you want some one to give you an estimate on the foruim you will have to supply pictures and a lot more information.

Arthur we need more information on your gun. Is it VH, GH AH etc, does it have ejectors or extractors, fluid steel barrels or damascuss. at least provide the serial number and we can look and see if it's in the book. Good quality pictures will help assertain condition which is a major factor in determining value.
i can't follow the dog so I want to sell my gun whats it worth is the equivelent of I can't drive whats my car worth?
Just an FYI you need to be a PGCA member to try to sell it here.

Thanks ya'll. I'll have to get someone here to help me with the pictures; I've never done it. All numbers match: 205915. I'm in Todd, Nc.
What's PGAC?
Charlie, I can't walk across Walmart, and certainly can't walk these mountains hunting grouse. I do know what you mean though, and I'm not sure I want to sell. Might though; I can catch gator trout, and I spend practically all hunting season on the flats in Florida.
Thanks again, Red

Arthur,
I will assist you in Posting pictures. Best to get some close up shots. The underside of the barrels, and the receiver with the barrels off will also be helpful. Just send pictures to coues3pt@gmail.com and I will post them.
If you choose to sell the the PGCA ( Parker Gun Collectors Association) has a policy to sell a gun you need to be a member. Really a good deal as you can not only find a lot of information but the members can assist you many times in finding a home for your gun. That said like Charlie stated, I am with him there will be some guns the family will need to deal with.

Arthur your gun is not listed in the serialization book so detailed pictures will be a very big help both to us and for you.

Arthur,
There are some missing records, about 1200 or so around your S/N range. If you send me more clear pictures you will get some good feedback. Take pictures of the buttplate and the muzzle also. If you can measure the barrel length and the length from the rear trigger to the end of the butt stock. Others on the sight are much more knowledgeable than myself and will give you some great information on your gun, but good pictures are important. Think about joining us. If you decide to sell your Parker you will have a group you can trust to sell it or any other guns to. Easier and cheaper, then an auction site, and more than likely get much better price than if you sell locally at a shop.

Arthur: The value of a Parker is determined by three things and possibly four: Grade, Gauge, Condition and perhaps provenance (if it once belonged to someone well known, e.g. Annie Oakley, Nash Buckingham or Czar Nicholas) The smaller the gauge (from ten on down), the higher the grade and most importantly the overall original condition the higher the value

Glad to hear from somebody close. I tried to figure out if there were any members in the area hoping to get with someone who could help me navigate this complicated site. I feel like an idiot. Part of my problem is poor phone and Internet service. I get on the site and lose service. I know nobody can help me with that, but when I'm on, I can't figure out how I should be operating. Maybe we could meet sometime.
Todd is between Boone and West Jefferson on hy 194. My home number is 828 264 6624.
Thanks for the contact Gary!

As they say here on the mountain Boone ant no fur piece from here. Gary

Hey fellers; sorry for the gap in communications. Did you get enough info on my gun to make a judgment about its value?

Arthur, since no one else has commented on your original question....let me throw my two cents in.
looks like a nice Trojan thats been restocked fairly well. i can't tell from the pics for sure but finish looks pretty rough on right side & barrels. may be just pictures. you need to post the specs...LOP, barrel length , chokes & condition of bores. even without all that , the book says a Trojan 16 that is 10 % original condition( and that means not messed with at all ) would be worth about $1000. the restocking realy knocks the collector value down. but maybe i'm wrong..maybe they just took the butt plate off & checkered it. anyway, i would say value to someone like me would be $900 to maybe $1500.
but ...who am i ?

Thanks DDR.
The barrel is 26", and in great shape both inside and out; no blemishes. The chokes are modified and improved. The restock is excellent, but without but plate. The distance from rear trigger to but is 13 3/8". Screws are all good to excelent. The gun is a beauty, and shoots good.
What else do you need to know?

Arthur,
sounds like it's in pretty good shape. BUT you have the advantage ...your holding it.
now based on additional info...taking your word, i'd say the $1500 would be pretty close give or take.
there again, the restock. what your calling excellent others may not. i called it fairly well based on the gaps along the upper tang. i have attached pics of a factory & a restock so you can make your own judgement. also the checkered butt on a Trojan 20 restock, i realy like that look..once again , all this is just my opinion. ask 10 people & you'd probably get 10 different prices. good luck to you whatever you decide to do. i hope this helps.

DDP, you've got to be a good man; you and Phil. Y'all helped, and you could have ignored my bumbling.
I really don't know what I'm going to do about selling the gun. I understand what you're saying, and I'm sure you're right. Like most, since I own it's surely worth more.
Maybe I just need to find someone, not a collector, who wants a good Parker in the family.

Your very welcome...glad it helped. really wasn't much to it.
if you decide to sell...this is a good place to do it.
always somebody looking for a good Parker. if I didn't have 2 16's already i'd probably be
trying to make a deal with you now. maybe i'll need another by the time you get ready to sell.....time will tell. good luck to you .
