I have a Hawkins pad I'm ready to install. It has existing mounting holes for the screws. After mounting and trimming to fit their are plugs to put in the pad to hide the screws. My question is: Do I make + cuts over the screw holes in order for it to accept the screw HEADS (with lube) as is done with other pads?
Thanks for any advice. Dick D.

You lubricate with vaseline and squeeze the screws through the holes. If the screws are too big, trim the screws on a lathe, drill press, or hand drill using a file. You shouldn't need to slit a Hawkins pad.

Yes, do not cut the holes. Any gun oil should work well for getting the screws to squeeze into the holes.

Thanks Gentleman: I have it scribed, chalked, and ready to trim. I wish I had waited for your replies as I did make some small cuts but I did them with a scalpel so they can't be seen anyway. Best, Dick D.
