O Frame 28's

Does anyone know ,were any of the late Remington era Parker 28 Gauges built on an O frame ,or were all of the late period guns OO framed guns ?

Russ, the Remington Parkers were built on the 00-Frame. I believe Parker Bros. graduated to the 00-Frame sometime in the late teens.

Russ,When I did that little article for the PP on early 28 gauge Parkers with the help of Bill Murphy I learned that many of the early 28,s were built on 20 gauge "O" frames. I will have to go back and see when the "OO" frame was introduced but I am fairly certain that by the Remington era the "OO" frame was the standard 28 gauge frame.I know the Cliff Green four gauge set had the 29 and .410 made on an "OO" frame.

Buy if someone wanted a heavy 28 who knows?

I remember reading ,probably in TPS when the OO Frame was introduced ,I don't recall the exact date ,but I was interested in the fact ,if they ever built O frame 28's after the introduction of the OO Frame ? I would suspect ,there had to be a few 20 Gauge ,two barreled sets ,maybe with 20 ,and 28 Ga. barrels ? What do you guys think ?

Thank you all for the info. and opinions , the reason I ask ,A couple of weeks ago I picked a stock ,and the serialization book showed it to be off of a 28 Ga. GHE ,Late serial # 241349,When I measured the stock ,it is more in line with my O frame size than the OO frame sizes, right now I have no particular use for it , I just thought it was a very nice stock and if you ever need a small frame stock ,you can never find one when you need it !

Russ, Remington also made at least one 28 on the 000 frame. It was displayed by one of our members at a PGCA meeting in Ohio. I researched the gun for him and found factory memos that discuss the 28 gauge on the .410 frame. It is very possible that there are more than just one 000 frame 28out there. The one I am familiar with is marked 000, but others may be mismarked 00. You just have to measure them.

What I have here Bill appears to be an, O Frame stock ,It is a G grade Stock w/Rounded Grip and a serial # to match ,also has a nice skeleton plate w checkering ,I know very uncommon to an early G but what about the late Rem. guns ? The stock is heavier than my OO frame considerably ,I am just going by feel on that because I sold my OO frame 28 about a year ago .With that being said ,the measurements are almost identical to my O frame 28 Ga.,and my 20 Ga. PH grade , I just thought it odd to have a stock for a late 28 ,Rem. Serial # and have it be an O frame stock !Any opinions are welcome ,or if some one owns a late 28 Ga. would like to hear from you also !

It would be interesting to know if any dedicated 28 gauge guns (not 20 gauge with additional 28 gauge barrels) were made by Remington on the 0-Frame.

Dean; That is what I was wondering about ,I had hoped maybe someone in the PGCA ,might have one ,This stock has beautiful figure , it has two small cracks inside ,a very easy repair for a competent smith ,you have to ask yourself ,why anyone would take it off of the gun ?Man ,you know how difficult even the Skeleton plates are to find ,let alone have one on your stock and remove the whole deal from the gun !

I checked the "Parker Story" and there is no indication of when the "OO" frame started to be used but I think Dean is pretty close because there is a graph with frame size dimensions and it is thought to date to around 1920.

This could be a great topic for the "Parkers Found" in the PP. What is the lowest number 28 gauge with a "OO" frame?Or on the other hand...What is the highest "O" frame gun?

Dave; It is ,241349, Shows a GHE 28 .
