I recently bought a gun and in the case was a set of cleaning tools all brass. Interestingly the handle had a section that screwed in and contained the oil and oiler. The name on the bottom section read< C,M. Powers gun cleaner> made by the Faries Mfg Co. Decatur IL. The three brass rods were in a bag that had three compartments and tied at the top. It looked like it was probably top of the line, and it is very well made. Gary

C.M. 'Chan' Powers, of Decatur, Ill. was a well known turn-of-the-century trapshooter

He was part of the 1901 Anglo-American match, shooting a Parker. After the match, he was quite ill with Typhoid Fever and was unable to return home with the team, but did recover.

Does the brass handle unscrew to reveal a tool? If so, I have one.

Gary does it look like this? I recently purchased a GH Damascus 12 gauge in excellent condition along with the original leather case. I found this in the case. I was told the gun had not been shot for over 60 years. Bores are perfect. Sure wish I knew what oil is in the bottle and oiler. It still smells sweet and oil in oiler is still fresh and oiler still works perfect. Unfortunately the cotton sleeve was falling apart.

It works pretty slick. The oil bottle screws into the bottom of the screw driver and the screw driver threads into the bottom of the cleaning rod.

One of our members reproduced the Faries rod, oiler and sleeve several years ago. It was advertised in the Double Gun Journal under the company name of "Fleetwood". The repros are even scarcer than the originals.
