I now have 3 Parker's (Parkeritis again hit again) two of the 3 have auto return to safe when broken down to reload. But one ( the restored one) does not return to safe. Did some guns come that way or maybe the safety is faulty or maybe when restored it was changed in that way for a live bird gun? What do you think? Is it hard/expensive to change it back to auto safety?
Thanks

The auto safety is actuated by a small rod that passes through a hole drilled in the wood. One end of the rod bears against the locking bolt and transfers motion to the safety button when the action is unlocked for opening. Guns could be ordered without the rod, or, the rod could have been removed. If you are adamant about an auto safety, and remove your stock to investigate, I have a pushrod you can have if the hole is present. A hole could be drilled, but it would have to be in the right spot, because there can't be a 'do over' unless the hole is filled and another attempt is made. Good luck! :)

Got rained out about noon. So got home and took stock off... No rod. I'll take the one you have. I will be glad to pay you for it and postage. I will PM
my address.
And thanks a bunch

Gerald, the rod could have not been out in by customers request at the factory. Or could be removed after the fact by an owner that did not like the auto safety. The tang screw furrel needs to be removed to get the rod out. A good way to tell if it was ordered without is if there is a hold for the rod drilled in the stock. If not originally equips, I would not think the hole to have been drilled.
I have several of these rods. And I am actually making them new as well.
