That might be a reason, but even after 1900 there's not much of this sort of thing. Even up into the 1950's there wasn't anything like this I've ever read about.

I'm talking about a steady yearly deal. I'd think an event like that would have been a slam dunk in a big city like Chicago or NYC or LA. There was something called the Milwaukee Sportsmans show I've seen mention of that did go on a few years.

A surprisingly old one is the Michigan Duck Hunters Tournament, they've been running that for 75 years I believe next year.

Very interesting, I've never seen another mention of it or a piece of memorabilia either. And though not widely studies as you, I've certainly done a lot of looking in years past.
