hope we get to hear the rest of the storey about old crabclaw and that winchester...the first part is really good but the climax may be better... charlie

That's the right way to treat a gun dog. They really make the hunt so much more enjoyable. Backstraps yet? Why the nickname "crabclaw"? Any trailcam video to share for us armchair deer slayers? Cheers,

No backstraps yet. I saw 5 different bucks today and had the scope on a nice 8pt three times, safty off ready to squeeze but just couldn't do it. He was a nice buck but in a year he will be a better buck.

Crabclaw got his name from the way the last point on the main beam formed. It looks like a crabs claw. He is still around as we would have heard if the neighboors took him. I hunted Fri thru Sunday and hardly heard a shot and those I did were this am as we had fresh snow. In those three days I have seen eight different bucks two of which were in the crosshairs.
