Stan, Askins wrote about diminishing returns with chokes being too tight with larger shot resulting in blown patterns.
Let’s remember, Askins was writing about paper shells with fiber wads and bare shot. A far cry from modern shells with the shot cushioned on setback and protected from scrubbing during the bore run, both by polymer shotcups.
