So, our task gentlemen, is to discover if there are Remington date codes stamped into the barrel flats. It wouldn't prove anything but it sure would add to our cumulative speculation.

I agree with Chris T. on the case colors and who did them better than Remington?

As for the rib engraving... I've seen rib engraving on two CH guns in the past year that were definitely not original Parker Bros. Acme Steel barrels but the engraved legend on the rib proclaimed they were... and it was as well executed as Parker Bros would have done it. This is not to say that these barrels are not original Parker Bros. "Special Steel" but simply adding a bit of spice to the discussion.
