I too think the plain steel barrels are pretty strong I have one that is a 10 ga in fact I have 2 of the plain steel barrel guns...the best I can figure out all of the plain steel barrels were made in the year of 1875....these early lifters were works of art they open and shut better than any of my other parker guns..charlie
