Early Lefever's with the 2nd variation of for end ejectors could be made to either extract or eject by way of turning two screws. But this was short lived, as he introduced the in-frame style of ejectors which was a far more robust design (but wasn't selective).
In terms of Syracuse Arms guns, I believe the selective type was not introduced until after Frank Hollenbeck was gone, and a gentleman named Horne became the superintendent. I can't recall his first name off the top of my head, but if memory serves, it was his patent.
