Twice Stamped?

I am restoring a VH and see that the roll stamp was struck twice. Was this common?

Not common. But it is sometimes seen.

I once owned a hammer 8 gauge that had the barrel logo double stamped with the second stamping off by about 20 thousanth. Looked like a 55 double die lincoln cent. The gun now resides in Missouri.
