Ha, I'm lucky when I can find my glasses in the morning, but not that lucky.
By 'correct', what I really meant was that I had found one to fit a #1 size butt.
It would be pretty esoteric to make a study of any differences between Meriden and Ilion made parts, such as the SSBP, but this one, bearing a very late Remington era SN is just the same as a much earlier Meriden gun. I would guess it was made well ahead, in Meriden, and when the factory inventory was packed up and sent to Ilion, it had yet to be stamped with a SN.
