I have seen this in one other I cation where half frame barrels were put on a gun of a different original frame size by Remington. That other case was a 16g gun originally that had a set of 12g tubes put on it and stamped 1/2.
As I know it, the 1/2 frame was used in Lou of 1 frames for 12g because of parts running out.
