Late winter always finds me poring over an old American Field per evening along with some spirits and water. I've got almost a complete set from 1903-13 = biweekly publication and plenty of reading. Here's a neat Parker smallbore and only $75. 34 incher and with an alligator case to boot!

Not only are the triggers "curled" but they are also "checkered", and a 16ga to boot.

You could get factory loaded 16-gauge black powder shells with 3 drams and 1 ounce of shot, but the stoutest smokeless powder 16-gauge loads I find offered by UMC in that time frame is their Arrow shell with 2 3/4 drams of DuPont or other bulk smokeless powder and 1 ounce of shot.

I've printed off shoot reports from the Memphis area 1909 and 10 when Nash Buckingham and his "Gin Squad" were most active and in a quick scan the name J. LeClerc doesn't jump out. There is a C.O. LeCompte competing fairly regularly.

i bet that 3 drams of black would kick like a mule in a light gun....my 16 with1 1/8 ounce kicks pretty good but the 1 1/14 ounce are real killers on the stock end....i shoot some real old loads at times and them old shells that wikk shoot are very stout.... thanks for the info.....charlie
