Default 2026 Southern SXS Happenings??

What’s going on at the Southern?

Usually by now we would have had pictures and stories of the goings on.

So what’s up??

Having traveled to the Southern and other SxS events many times, I'd offer that the last thing most members want to do while there is to real time write up their adventures.

Dean, we missed you at the banquet. I’ll try to post some photos tonight as we are about to hit the road.

I’m only asking because someone with the LCSCA took the time to post a really nice FB Smith table presentation…

So much going on !
Weather is perfect.
Consensus is that the small bore stations are more difficult than the large bore. I shot both well so they were probably both set up easier than most courses.
I had dinner with some northeast folks and the conversation centered around how friendly people are down here . Some good information on the stock books and a nice display at the banquet. (I should have gotten there earlier to study the “People’s Choice” table a bit more. There were some interesting guns.)
Also agreed that the whole shoot was very well run.
A little traffic at the last stations that were 4 pair, but that meant more time to talk and get to know new friends.
And of course the tents…. Where would you ever find such a selection of fine firearms…
If you haven’t been here… it’s a must trip.
If you’ve been before and missed it - you know what you missed.
I’m already looking forward to coming back!

Parker won the Challenge by 10 targets if I have my information right, Parker also won the 20 gauge event and Smith won the 16 gauge event.

Both teams shot well on some challenging targets, Randy was blazin hot after some of Jimmy’s oysters, he was Top Gun!!

I've been at it for 52 years and I have never seen so many Parker 28 gauge guns for sale at one show (might except Vegas since I haven't been in 12 years!). I counted 14 separate guns, offered by dealers and a few walk arounds, all VH/VHE grades. Asking prices went from $9500 for a sub-30% 0 frame beater with a knackered-out recoil pad up through a $15K stunning total restoration job done all the correct ways to a mind-numbing all original 00 frame with perfect modern dimensions at $22,5K. Most were 0 frame guns with c. 30% being 00 frame guns. (None of these included those displayed at teh PGCA "theme" tent displays or at the dinner. The guy with the booth behind our Fox booth, whom none of us had ever heard or seen anything of him at shows before, had 3 of them!
