Hi Unregistered,
On July 29th, this site will be moving..! No, really - it's "moving" to another physical location - including servers, gateways, routers - everything - including my coffee cup...
So, from the date of July 29th through July 30 or 31 (shooting for these dates, but - as always, I'm at the mercy of my ISP who has to install the lines to the new location - and we actually get them running ;) ). But - this site, cloud servers and main web will be OFF LINE.
Now, please save these dates!! Please - don't be "that guy" who emails me on the 30th to tell me you "can't open the Parker Website". I'll already know it is offline - and also know that you are "that guy"...
I'll take this notice up and down over the next week or so - and leave it up during the final few days before shutting it off on the 29th..

John,
One of the things on the old forum that looks like it is going to be lost was the feature I recently posted a reminder about. It was the one where if you clicked on a city or state under a posters name/avatar, it would show a list of all the members who lived in that city or state if they had registered their city or state - not everyone did, some obviously wish for privacy, etc. But I thought it was kind of neat. Click on Michigan and you would get a real cast of characters.
Now your details have only a single field that is not structured as city and state, and there is not a country either. Parsing this field would allow you to get back that feature and it will probably match fields with the membership data too. If you can preserve the feature, it will be twice as neat if members do load their pictures.
If you like the idea, you might take a look at expanding the location field before too many more get registered.

Hi Bob,
I actually *can* do that with GoogleMaps (I have a registered API key). But - I don't use it on *any* of my firearms collecting sites for the reasons you mentioned...
As well - if I could through the ADMIN panel have knocked that feature out from the current forum - ummm - I would have..?? I'm not sure where on the Internet today - it's a good idea to show anyone's location??
Just my $0.002
Also - you don't need two fields, as Google Maps will parse "Florida" as easily as "Tallahassee, Florida" - if you see what I mean??
BUT - I really appreciate your thoughts - and yep - if folks really do want that - I can bring it in..?? I'll leave it up to the folks here, OK???
Best to you!!
John
