Default W & C Scott The Premier Hammerless 12 Gauge

I purchased this Scott from a fellow member a couple months back and decided to take the old girl waterfowling yesterday. Some handloaded 1 1/8 oz #2 Bismuth worked well on these couple of geese. This particular Scott was manufactured around 1878 according to the serial number and still has the old black powder proof marks. This gun has not been reproofed for nitro after all these years so it may be has spent most of it's life over here in the states. It weights 7lbs 10oz which makes it a nice waterfowling double, a little on the heavy side for a traditional English upland double. This particular Scott has a side grip safety which I don't very often on other Scott double.

Thats just great Matt. You just put some life back in the old Darlin. Proves you don't need a 31/2" 12 or a 10 to kill geese

According to the Scott book, only the top two grades of gun were stamped with that address, even back when grades were not marked on the gun. Makes a good confirmation as to quality.

Nice job. Would you mind sharing load data on your bismuth loads?

Thanks

Here you go. I’m not sure why I cut the hulls to 2 1/4” but it patterns well.
