That is a puzzle, but as we say about Parkers, ‘never say never’.

I had a 1923 16 ga Trojan, 202066 that had the pre-1917 style… but maybe that is common to the Trojans?

The safety button on that gun was likely changed for some reason. The gun looks to have had a lot of work done to it, so all bets are off.

You will notice that the arch of the engraving above the button does not match the curve of the button. The more relaxed curve of the engraving is more typical of the flat late style button.

The gun in question had a single selective trigger removed and replaced with double triggers. May have gotten the out of period safety at that time but could just be a worker reaching into a parts bin and getting an earlier style safety slide.

Maybe it left the factory as a “no safety” gun and the safety was added at the time of the trigger change…?

Can’t sneak anything by the watchful eye of Researcher! Is it just me or are others often surprised when dealers aren’t including a research letter with a fairly expensive graded gun like this? Also a shame that whoever did the “restoration” work left the lever so far left of center.
