Larry, judging from the very high condition of Parkers I’ve seen with vivid original composite barrels, I would say the dramatic pattern of these barrels were likely originally close to the same as they are after their recent refinishing.

Pattern-welded barrels were, and still are, highly prized and this is one of the main reasons that so many different formulas of mixing irons and steels were experimented with to finally arrive at truly beautiful patterns.
