When I was 14 years old, another 14 year old and I were shooting skeet at an Izaak Walton League range. He was shooting a 28 gauge Parker. I asked what his plans were for the Parker. He said he wanted to sell it and buy a Model 99 Savage. I asked him how much the Savage would cost. He said "About $120.00". We sealed the deal that day. Another day on the same skeet range, I met a fellow student from the University of Maryland. He was shooting his father's AHE Parker 32" trap gun. I admired the gun and forgot about it for years. One Saturday night, he called and asked if I wanted the Parker. I said I couldn't afford such a gun. He replied that I could afford it and he expected me to be at his home near the Bay Bridge Sunday morning. He had the Parker laid out on his kitchen table. He told me to write a check for $2200.00. I told him that the gun was worth several times that amount. He said that I had admired the gun years earlier and he wanted me to be the caretaker for his father's gun, end of story.
