Went out for the afternoon hunt today...cool with a nice Northerly, breeze...mid field, my little Springer was wagging her tail and seemed to be hot on a scent...a moment later the hen burst into flight right in front of my face ( I'll never get used to this!) and as she sped away I got a load of 5's into her butt...she landed, wounded a hundred yards away and my dog found her and picked the hen up. I said "leave it" and she dropped it into my hand...to say she was excited with her first bird in hand was an understatement!
I was right proud of my little girl today!

It was so much fun to work into the wind and watch her nose sorting out all the smells of a cool Fall day...I know this is only the beginning of a long relationship with my little hunting buddy...many more fun days ahead.

Oh and I apologize for the Franchi I took out today...I just felt I was going to need some 12 ga punch. Besides, I need to shoot more skeet with the Parker 20 gauges to get used to the damned safety being on the top. These side by sides are new to me ya know?
