Banner Beretta Clays day for me
Hello All. My local club had it's usual 3rd Sat of the month Match last weekend. They had a Super Bird 50 bird match having a mix of the close targets Woods and long open crosser targets Marsh stations. My go to gun is the old Double trigger Win 21 choked .010 and .015, with 30 inch barrels. The Marsh course was challenging for my style, and only shot a 30/50. I just don't do well on long crossers and long shots in general.
Went back out Sun for a 2nd round and brought my Beretta 627EL that I was blessed to get years back from another member here. It's only has 26 inch barrels, with mobil chokes and also has a S.S.T , the only such gun I own. I decided to run tighter chokes with Mod and Imp Mod and just shoot to have fun. Managed to get 40/50 including running a couple of stations in the close birds Woods course. Never thought that would happen. I was amazed the tighter chokes weren't a hindrance on the rabbits or really close short shots. And consistently hit most of the longer missed shots on the Marsh. Was truly amazed at the difference. All with relatively tight clays chokes. May have to rethink my go to gun in the future... Ha Ha. Regards, Mattly |
Tight chokes rule sporting clays. They help you to concentrate and they will hit birds that are, in your opinion, out of range.
