1874 12ga Under lifter

New guy here.

I have a 1874 12ga under lifter I am working on getting together. I seem to need some of the hard to find parts. I contacted Brian Dudley for the firing pins. I lost the message for the hammer screws, but I'm sure I will come across his name though. A bent small wrench was holding the fore end in place.

That firing pin pictured is not the correct style for the gun.

Thanks Brian. Thank explain why it was difficult to fire

I had an old timey 'smith tell me this maybe a reproduction. Can anyone confirm this for me? I've added some more pics.

Thanks for the info I've been gathering.

I hop the previous owner didn't screw up the hammer screw threads.

There is no such thing as a reproduction Parker hammer gun.

Cool, learning something every day. I just hope this doesn't turn into my FAL addiction ;-)

Thanks @B. Dudley

Provided I can correct the screw threads, are there any replacement screws available?

I think I found a screw on ebay. I'm not sure if this a correct part though.

If you are planning on shooting this gun you should take a few precautions. First, the barrels should be evaluated by a qualified smith. They look to be a problem and if you aren’t careful you could blow half your hand off, or worse. Second, the smith can give you an approximation of what it will take to put the gun back into safe working order, if it’s even possible. It could cost several thousand dollars. If you are serious about this be smart, take your time and get educated here. Spend $40 to become a member of the PGCA. That will open up areas of these forums not available to you now. Good luck, be safe.

Joseph,

I have saved many of these. The barrels are cut, but may be usable. Some soldier in those muzzles would help and make it look better. I have a set of 20" damascus barrels that were cut and work fine. How are the bores? Any pitting?

The price of that hammer screw on EBay is a little steep. There are one or two different threads. I have had some hammer screws that were interchangeable and some that wouldn't work.

Try these first; https://www.trackofthewolf.com/parts...4-40-parker-tx

It is nice to bring one back. Good luck and feel free to reach out with any questions.
