Doubles Club Belt Buckle
I was looking at my Parker Doubles Club pin and thought it would make a great belt buckle. Has anything like that ever been made that may be available for purchase? I'd definitely buy one.

Unless you require a Barbie Doll sized belt, the Parker Gun Doubles Club pin would have to be made much larger to be suitable for a belt buckle. Offering this pin as a man-sized buckle would not be bad idea, however.

How about something like this. Just replace the quarter with the doubles pin.

Molly, Custom Silver in Arlington Texas does a nice job with the belt buckles. We have used them to make awards for our field trials.

This should be a joint membership venture with input from those who want to add positive input and design thought. Size, material metals, layout, general format. Open a thread to submit drawings and such to be voted on and a final model to be made. This could be fun. We could have several options as to type of birds making up the double. Buckel for Quail, Grouse and Roosters for example. I have only shot two true doubles in my ventures in the uplands. I would like buckles for Quail with 16 and a mixed double with 16, Rooster and Quail in Kansas. SXS Ohio....(-:

Art Wheaton and I designed the Distinguished Service Pin and we went through several iterations. I still have the prototypes that we did not choose.
It’s not a hard job to agree on a final design if all involved agree to a ‘give and take’ method of arriving at a final design. Cost is another thing entirely… . |
Too many cooks...? You know the rest.

IF the BOD decides to embark on such a project, it should be the BOD who decides on the final design, but only after a defined period during which interested members can submit their ideas.

Just as an aside, but John's post made me realize that buckles make a nice trophy for a number of events. I previously shot in a smallbore rifle discipline for four years and was relatively successful. The association issued buckles for the State Champions and the National Champions in the four different divisions. I eventually bought a box of finished square plaque mounting boards with no attached plates. The price was nominal. I attached the buckles so that they were presented identically and hung them in a grouping over my desk. The beauty was that you could remove one, clip on a belt and wear it occasionlly. Makes a much more impressive award than a plain plaque and more useful. The organisers of events and shoots may want to consider this.
