Storage of a 16/20 two barrel set?

I recently acquired a Parker Reproduction two barrel set. Appears to be LNIB. Not sure if I will eventually hunt it or not. Just wondering about storage. Do most of you leave it in the case wrapped in the tissue paper and leave it in your gun safe?

Any info is appreciated.

All my guns with trunk cases are stored in their cases. However, I keep the room very dry with dehumidifiers.

Thanks Bill I have a golden rod in my gun safe usually is 45-50% humidity in the safe year round.

I do not store any guns in their "Makers" cases. They stay in a humidity controlled gun safe and inspected and wiped down at least once per year.

Thank you Bob!

I agree with Bob. Cases can attract moisture.

It seems a shame not to have the gun broken down in the case…
But I’ve been putting gun in the safe with dehumidifier and leaving the case propped open on a shelf in the room with another dehumidifier running.
I’m hoping the next generation takes as much care :)

Just visited a Gun Shop that acquired a large collection from an estate. Shop owner said that many of the side by sides had long storage in take down trunk cases. The gun were covered with mold and 200 cases were discarded as unusable.

Sounds like those guns were neglected. Anything not maintained properly will deteriorate.

Well, I'll tell you the absolute worse place to store your gun, and lots of people do it. NEVER store your gun underneath your bed! Moisture from your body soaks thru the mattress and rusts the gun. I had a good friend who absolutely destroyed a very fine Weatherby MkV 460 Weatherby magnum. The rust was deep and covered the gun. I actually shot that gun when he first acquired it. I shot it at the range, once, from the bench. Not a very bright thing to do!
