PEOPLES CHOICE SUGGESTIONS
Good Morning All:
At some point within the next 2 weeks or so I plan on announcing the Peoples Choice theme and the particulars of the event which will be held in conjunction with the annual meeting in Sanford. In the past the membership has offered up some suggestions with regards to a theme. Last year the theme was "Hammer Time" and we did lure some nice hammer guns out. Prior to that we used "Purpose Built Parkers" and "Parkers with Condition or Provenance" prior to that. I am soliciting ideas for this years theme from the membership as you fellas have offered up some good suggestions previously. Once again your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also any ideas offered up will be given consideration for the "Tent Display" which will be organized by Keavin Nelson. If you have an idea please feel free to contact me via a PM or email me at randy@hsiagency.com For anyone not familiar with the Peoples Choice Awards please see the following as copied from the PGCA website Awards & Recognition section: The Peoples Choice Award: Peoples Choice Awards shall be held annually in conjunction with the annual meeting. The mission of the Peoples Choice Awards shall be to conduct an event that will be enjoyable for both attendees and the folks displaying by selecting a different theme annually that will focus on Parker guns in terms of grade, condition, rarity, configuration, or other aspects. Members will then be invited to display their Parkers with attendees voting for their Peoples Choice. By doing so we hope to bring out to the Members Parkers with unusual and or desirable features for viewing and discussion thereby furthering the interest and education of the Parker gun, creating camaraderie amongst Members, and recognizing our Members for their collecting achievements. Looking forward to hearing from you Gents. See you all soon !! |

How about “One of One” Parkers, as in ‘the only known with this feature.’
. |
Dean, that is a great idea which should bring some plain jane, but never before known examples. Of course, owners of such plain jane guns would have to be convinced to attend the annual meeting at a swanky country club.
|
What about "Favorite or go to Parkers"
My favorite Parker is not my highest-grade Parker, but I like it for reasons that would probably resonate with the membership. It might give a chance for more members to participate as well. Display the gun with a page/card on why you love it. |
Straight grip Parkers

Bringing this back to the top for any additional thoughts.... Thanks !!
|
How about a study of our ABCs, displaying those 3 grades.
|
Twist barrel small bores 28ga to 16ga

I PM'd Randy saying I'd love to see nothing but 16's. Also, would love to see nothing but HAMMERS if that hadn't been done.

How about guns owned and used by famous or notable shooters… not simply “ordered by Du Bray” or something like that.

What about guns that have original atypical for their grade features. Like a DH or higher gun with a special ordered dogs head buttplate. Or a VH with additional engraving embellishments that are original. Or like that GH that we saw recently with the large teigger plate engraving. You get the point.

I have developed a soft spot/or sickness:) for composite barrels.
I don't know how that could be put into a theme..... but.... maybe "Bring your most unique, highest condition, Composite Steel barreled Parker" |
The 28 thread started by Mr. Gordon has me interested in an all 28 theme. There are a limited number of 28s but many folks can participate. Not a real "rare" bird but definitely an uncommon gauge. I do like a lot of the other suggestions too.

Make it easy ! Original A-1 Specials ONLY . Reblued , refinished , restored okay but not upgraded to or Repro’s .
|
How about composite barrels with ejectors? Is there anything better?

Alright here’s my last suggestion . Any Parker you want BUT you need to bring a slim figured model in a bikini that covers no more than 5% of her person to hold your gun and answer questions !

One was a 16 gauge GHE One was a 12gauge 26” CHE with Bernard barrels One was a DHE 28 gauge with original 24” barrels and a 13” LOP … offhand I can’t think of the other two at the moment… . . |

I like the old blended with the new when it comes to hammerless Parkers. And composite barreled ejector guns are hard not to like... |
Guns with multiple barrels, any gauge and grade
|
How about “Your first Parker”. Might be interesting to see the guns that started people down the path. One thing for sure, each one would have an interesting story.
|
I like that idea Mike. I'd bring my wobbly ugly VH 16g that I am in love with.
|
If that happened I think every entrant should type a card with how that gun led them down the Parker Path of Financial Ruins : )
