Salutations from NW Washington State
Hello, my name is John, and I have a Parker problem. What? This isn’t a 12 step program? Oh, well. There are worse addictions. Never mind.
New member, but I’ve used this site as a resource for close to 30 years. Until This month I’ve only owned a 1930 Trojan. Upon returning home in December from this years Montana trip with my soon to be 14 year old setter, I was dismantling my gun for cleaning and the screws holding the forearm iron to the wood pulled loose. Using this site as a resource, I promptly sent it to a gunsmith for repair. With the season end nearing, i was anxious to get another chance to shoot some birds behind my old friend. So….. I purchased a 1929 12 ga. VHE (cuz it’s choked more open than the Trojan) with 2 1/2” chambers(and 5 cases of shells cuz….ain’t goona find em in eastern Oregon, Washington or Montana when I need ‘em). Then I spied a single barrel trap gun (sc?) that I took delivery of today. I ran the serial number and learned it was made in 1917. It looks almost new, and I suspect it’s been refinished. Waiting for my account authorization to obtain a letter from this group that can provide some provenance. I intend to use this at the little trap range about 4 miles from home. Rather this than my game guns. Next Thursday I take delivery of a reproduction 28 ga. (Cuz…. Do I really need a justification?). Check sent and soon to take delivery of another reproduction. This one’s a 20 gauge with 26” barrels, choked IC and MOD (cuz….. grouse). Something tells me that time spent amongst you will not abate this affliction. And I’m ok with that. Carry on |
Welcome to the home for wayward Parker enthusiasts! Took you long enough! :)
BTW...photos are the best way to get the "help" you seek! |

Welcome, John. When you figure out how to post photos, I’d love to see the engraving on that 1917 single.

John, welcome to the addiction!! Always remember in this journey through Parker Universe, it’s not about need, it’s all about want!! :rotf::rotf:

Mobirdhunter, I tried to post some pics but was unable to. I did manage to post a few to my Album. Not the best, but I'll figure it out.

Welcome aboard. I live at the eastern edge of Washington state. Eastern Spokane County. Vintage doubles are pretty scarce out here in the west compared to the northeast part of the country.
|
John, where are you in NE WA? We have a vacation home on the southern tip of Camano Island, looking west across Saratoga Passage to Langley on Whidbey Island.

John,
I enjoyed your album — great gun, wonderful pup, and incredible wide open spaces. Thanks!! |
Welcome John! Nice pics of your beautiful state. My daughter lived in Seattle for a few years and I always enjoyed my visits there. And nice Land Cruiser!

That Land Cruiser has been in storage in a barn at my other place for nearly 20 years. It's a 1987 FJ60. I've acquired two more since then. My 1999 FJ100 has nearly 340k on it and was my daily driver until I got the one pictured back on the road. Was growing nervous about the miles so in 2019 I ordered a new FJ200 that I've only put 20k on. It sits in the garage waiting for the other two to die. I think it's going to be waiting a long time. Just too nice to haul dogs around in, and they go everywhere with me. My kid moved to Pittsburgh for school, so I finally sold the other place. and with some of the proceeds', put the old FJ60 back on the road. Can't really call it a Toyota anymore cuz it has a brand new 6.2 litre LS3 and automatic transmission from GM. 430 HP at the crank but still bounces around and handles like an old truck. Perhaps Toyo-Let? |
