Me the nid

Bobby, I'd take the NID. I have 3 nice little Crescents I shoot, one more than the other 2. I shot a worn, but tight Nitro 410 for years, along with a Western Long Range. Both excellent shooters. I ended up trading both a year ago towards an Ithaca Flues 4E 20 . I'd trade my collection for a little Parker 410 splinter!

A couple of buggered screws.
A couple others don't seem to be properly seated.
It concerns me a little.
Enlarge the 3rd pic. Forward floorplate screw looks a little askew??

Maybe tightened 1/2 turn too much or maybe 1/2 turn too loose?

Same with the trigger guard screw?

I’d still choose the Skeeter.

In the condition it's in,
Why do you suppose someone's digging into it?

I think they pulled the wood and refinished, or maybe repaired a crack or two. Looks recheckered, I think it should be flat top style on the field grades.

I find my NID .410-bore one of the hardest guns to shoot that I own. The heavy breech end of those tiny .410-bore barrels puts much of its 6 pounds 1.7 ounces weight between my hands.

Muzzle light and very whippy. My 28-gauge NIDs, on the same frame as the .410-bores, weigh 5 pounds 11.5 and 11.7 ounces and are much better handling.

For me, my best handling .410-bore double is my RBL-410 with its trim 28-inch barrels and tiny receiver giving much better balance to its 5 pound 0.7 ounces.

I'd take the skeeter

Skeeter, they almost always balance well, and it will never break if taken care of.

Much as I like NID's, that Skeeter just has "it" :)!

I chose the SKEET-ER.
Sucker for killer wood. Tons of condition. Enough degradation that I'm satisfied of it's originality.
