Trojan 20 gauge stock replacement

14 Attachment(s)
I bought this 20 gauge Trojan with 28" barrels because I thought it was in good condition with a lot of case color. It also has interesting wood with a Dogs Head Butt plate, which it should not have had. And after looking at the repair code on the barrel flat BRR3, I think the stock was replaced by Remington in January of 1946. As has been discussed here several times, Remington was not always faithful to what the gun should have had and used whatever they had on hand. This certainly looks like a factory stock with the Remington cap on the pistol grip and it has P style checkering on the grip. My guess is that's what was in the bin, so that's what they put on the gun instead of worrying about what it should have been. Any additional information or thoughts would be welcome.

Nice find.

That’s most definitely Remington’s style of checkering.

…and the cyanide color case hardening is Remington’s as well.

That’s a handsome Trojan! I like the anomalies, they give it an air of refinement. I’m repeatedly impressed by just how well my 20 gauge Trojan destroys clay targets. Took it to the trap range yesterday.

Wow. I think she's pretty. Congrats on that "one off" and I'd be thrilled to have that.

Yup. Factory restock by Remington.

I like that Trojan

Nice Trojan. It's been factory maintained and original to it's factory heritage. In addition it is likely a better looking stock than the original. If you have it restocked, it will be an aftermarket restock, not factory. If mine, I wouldn't think of having it restocked.

I think you're right Art and I have no intentions of having it re-stocked. Additionally, I shoot it well, so no need to do anything but enjoy shooting it.

That gun has an interesting history. Not a hit on value, IMO.
