On the negative side this work impacts the originality of the gun. But, seeing that the stock and forend have been re-finished and that it has been re-barreled the originality has already been comprimised.

That gun is beautiful as is. If it were mine, I'd it keep it wiped down and shoot the heck out of it.

That spectacular scroll & flower engraving is much more visible without the color case hardening.

Definitely leave as is IMO.

I assume you prefer the flower scroll over the more common dogs and scroll?
