As of Wednesday morning, there were ZERO bids on this .410. Pre auction estimate of $35 to $55k. Wednesday evening I intended to place a bid in the $20k to $25k range and see where it goes and it was already up to $32,500 by then.

Yes, several items in this auction actually sold below the low end estimate, including the 20% premium.

It must be nice to have $132,000 to burn with little impact on the bottom line.

I’ve learned the hard way there is always someone smarter and richer and with different priorities than me and that’s ok. You just have to be content and realistic. There are probably a lot of people who are envious you would even bid $25,000 on a gun and to them it’s like you’re the wealthy one. It’s all relative. Like I said in the other thread that this is good for the brand overall. Keeps the legend of old reliable kind of going, you know?

Swing and a miss on 2 bids. I was close as the next highest bidder won both. However, who knows how high that next highest bidder would have gone. PS. I found out later I had lost. Getting into a bidding war seldom works out imo.

I totally get that. Probably less than 1% of the population would ever spend over $25k for a shotgun. And it’s still a lot of money. That’s why it’s depressing to find that kind of money still was only less than a quarter of what it brought.

I think next auction I’ll set my sights on a really nice 12 or 16 gauge so at least I come home with something.

I thought there were some deals in this auction. Unfortunately I wasn’t going to be able to follow along so I had to pre-load my bids on my items of interest. Turns out, the deals were not on my items. I’m sure Josh and company will pull together another nice round of Parker’s for us to get jealous over in September. I agree with Andy, the legend lives on through these platforms.

Huh… when I looked at that gun on the G&D website it showed $750.
I must have done something wrong…

Bill, I have no connection to G&D other than my good friendship, like so many others have, with Josh.

I made a novice mistake on lot #67. I had put in bids on lots #66 & 67. I just put in the opening bid price which was $1250 on lot 66 which sold for a lot more. When lot 67 started it went to $1250 which is what I thought I had bid, and they were asking for $1500 so I thought I was winning but when it ended, I realized that the opening bid was only $1000. :cuss::banghead:

You are not the first one to do that!! Also, I lost out on an SBT a couple years ago because the bidding started at 9:00 am...on the east coast! Me, on Central time. Sheesh!

I got lucky. Threw in a low ball bid five minutes before the gun came to auction and won it. I was very surprised.

It all comes down to how bad you want it and how deep your pockets are.
