The choke device on that gold colored 20-gauge Double Auto certainly looks like a Weaver Choke to me.

One of the hunters in my father and his buddy's loosely organized hunt club had a truck farm in the Kent valley southeast of Seattle right where Boeing decided they needed to build something, as I recall their aero-space development center. Gave him a bunch of money. All Ray did was move out a little farther and get another little farm putting the rest away for his retirement. He did splurge on one thing, a Satin Gray Double Auto. In all the times I hunted with Ray and his two great German Shorthairs I never saw that double Auto come out of the rack in his old Willys pickup. Always carried his old straight grip A5 with black tape around the grip.

Interesting Dave. I wouldn’t doubt that Val Browning sourced something out of the market that was already available. That makes perfect sense.

Dave ,As far as I know all Browning double autos were 12ga guns. They came in 3 weights.

Thanks Dave , interesting video they were really trying different things with the double automatic. They do feel more like a double than a auto.

I have a pair of those Browning Double Automatic dummies that were in an early style Ansley H. Fox A-grade I bought in 1968. With youthful foolishness I was thinking I'd make it into a double trap gun. Sent it off to Simmons for a vent rib. It arrived back in Seattle from Simmons after I reported for active duty on December 12, 1968. Finally, when I was home for Christmas 1970, I got to see it and took it to San Diego with me in January 1971. Had Dan Dwyer stock it to match the dimensions of a Browning Broadway and fit a beavertail forearm. Planned to then send it to Miller for a single trigger, but I discovered skeet and a year or so later traded it off to H. Kinder on my 28-gauge Model 12 Skeet Gun. I still have the original forearm wood for that A-Grade and the Browning Double Automatic dummies are gathering dust with my shotshell collection.

If anyone feels a need to own either, they can be available.

I assume those dummies were for salesman to use to demonstrate the speed loading feature of the DA or did they come with every gun when new?
