I remember well the day Commander Gunther turned over the stock book copies to the PGCA. The Commander, Kevin McCormack, and I were in the company cafeteria at The Arms, eating a leisurely lunch. The Commander disappeared when we were finished eating. I was later to find out that he went to the parking lot to consumate the gift. I hope my memory of these events correspond with Kevin's take on them. Kevin and the Commander had a relationship that I unfortunately did not have. However, some time later, the Commander sent me one of his extra copies of the "book", postpaid, no charge.

Chuck, can we presume these are the books, both stock and order books, that Remington Arms disposed of two years ago?

Shortly after seeing this thread, I received the current Parker Pages in the mail. I immediately turned to the article outlining the procurement of these records and am extremely grateful to everyone involved in this endeavor.

When I think how easily these original records could have been lost for all time through the Remington auction buyout, it fills me with joy that these records are now in the possession of the association that will preserve & appreciate them the most.

These artifacts of history could have easily either been thrown in a dumpster or sold off to a deep pocketed collector of such things never too have been seen or heard of again.

I commend & thank everyone who had the foresight & determination for securing these records for us & the Parker gun collecting community at large. A debt of gratitude is owed to those who made it happen:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Thank you for your comments Paul. It's something I had hoped for for a long time.

When Remington was sold off piecemeal, I had contacted people in the various "departments" from the businesses that bought the Remington groups. I had asked each one if they could help with any information pertaining to whether their group took possession of the Parker records. None of them had any idea what I was referring to nor could they direct me to someone who might have that information. When the offer to purchase the records was discussed, I was amazed that the shop reached out to sell them to the PGCA!! I felt very privileged to be in the loop as this process was going on.

Now if we could get any remaining records into the collection/data base, that would indeed be a massive win for the PGCA and it's members.

Kudos to the BOD for doing the deal and especially to John Davis for negotiating the deal and making this happen. John, I will shoot you in pool but don't ask me to play cards against you!! :rotf::rotf:
