Well, my interest was piqued so I did some looking around and found some different examples on the lock plates of early graded Lifters.

But the one I found most interesting was the one engraved like this… and it was all intentional because bith sides were exactly alike.

Dean, This is great! I never thought to check the lock-plates for the way the abbreviation is done. I don't have any back actions that have "Parker Bros" engraved on the locks. I don't believe that was done, at least not on my <1000 serial number guns.
That is something I have only seen on front action locks. I will have to check a few of my early front action locks this weekend. I would also agree, I like the example you highlighted the best as well... |

75 plus years ago I was taught to spell my name Mc with two marks under the c. Now I know why but somewhere along the way I forgot about. I think originally it was spelled MacPherson which means sons of a parson.
